One day my friend Chris, formerly from Fort Wayne and now living and working in Chicago, showed up at my door. He had been working on a job in
Fort Wayne and had missed his Amtrak train from Waterloo back to Chicago. I made a pot of coffee and we chatted for a while and then he asked if he
could talk me into taking him to the South Shore so that he could get home without waiting until the next day. In about 20 minutes we were on our way to
Michigan City.
When we got to the station, I figured I might as well ride on in with him. I hadn't been to Chicago yet for this Christmas season, and I was already more
than halfway there. We parted company outside Randolph Street Station, and I set out with my camera tucked under my jacket to protect it from the rain.
The last two times I've been there, it's been cloudy and dark and I've had to crank up the ISO setting, which makes for grainy/noisy pictures. I think some
of these turned out well despite the weather; some might even be better because of it. Here they are:
Heading north on Michigan Avenue from Randolph Street
/
Sun-Times Building coming down to make way for Trump Tower
Descending to the lower level of Michigan Avenue to escape the rain
The Old Style sign in the Billy Goat window isn't working. The Billy Goat is on the lower level just off Michigan Avenue, across from the Tribune Building.
